Dr. Vinith obtained his BOT & MOT (Mental Health) from Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai, M.Sc., (Counselling & Psychotherapy) from TN University and Ph.D. OT from MVG University, Jaipur.

He holds certifications in Sensory Integration from University of Southern California and Geriatric care from Geriatric Care Society, UK.

He has nearly 20 years of experience in various fields of Occupational Therapy.

He has worked as Lecturer, Assistant Professor in Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy, under Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai.

He was the Head of the Department in Dr Jeyasekharan Multi speciality Hospital, Nagercoil. He served as Clinical supervisor, Clinical Instructor & Clinical Mental health Coordinator in the Ministry of Health, Kuwait.

He was a Course Instructor for Occupational Therapy Psychosocial (Mental health) course for 4th year students in Kuwait University.

He joined NISH in Jan 2021 as Assistant Professor and became Associate Professor & Vice Principal / Head of the Department in April 2022. 

He has research papers published to his credit in reputed journals in the field of Occupational Therapy.

His research interests include Occupational Therapy Mental health and improving “Occupational Participation and Evidence based Practice in Psychosocial function in Children, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics populations”.

Mrs. Lynda George joined NISH as a consultant occupational therapist in 2017. She has over 39 years of experience in both adult and paediatric rehabilitation.
She completed her BOT from Christian Medical College, Vellore and has worked in several hospitals and NGOs. She was the principal of Meenakshi college of Occupational Therapy at Chennai and worked as a Professor at KMCH college of Occupational Therapy in Coimbatore for 11 years.
She has a PG diploma in cerebral palsy and has done an intermediary course in sensory integration.
Mrs. Lynda was one of the team members instrumental in setting up the Bachelor of occupational Therapy course at NISH in 2020.

Mr Joseph Bose has twenty-five years of experience as Occupational Therapist specialized in General Paediatrics, Dysphagia Management, Assistive technology, Sensory Integration,
Seating and Splinting. He has More than 11 years of experience in teaching Occupational therapy students. He worked in Ministry of Health, Kuwait for 22 years and completed his tenure as Superintendent Occupational Therapy. He was part of the recruitment and accreditation team of MOH Kuwait. He has been awarded the exemplary award by MOH, Kuwait.
He completed his BOT from Christian medical college Vellore. He is certified in Sensory Integration from University of Southern California USA. He is also certified in Splinting (Orfitologist), ISWP certified WSP, OPT (1 & 2) etc. He joined NISH in February 2022.
He also worked as honorary (Consultant Occupational Therapy), Mentor and Member of
Innovation team for developing the patented Assistive Technology device AUTICARE for the management of Autism and other developmental disabilities at Embright InfoTech, Technopark, Trivandrum, a part of Government of Kerala Start-up mission.
Mr. Joseph has Presented papers in number of international conferences and publications
in the field of Occupational Therapy.

 

 

 

Mr. Gunjan Kumar Upadhyay completed his BOT from Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (Divyangjan) Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Delhi in 2013 and MOT from Santosh Occupational Therapy College, Santosh Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences Hospital Ghaziabad. His area of speciality is Neurology. He has done a certificate course "Occupational Therapy in Mental Health”, and is certified to administer and score the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, MoCA. He is also Brian Gym movement facilitator.
He has over 7 years of experience as Occupational Therapist. He is proficient in Neurology, OT Neuro-psychiatry & Mental health, Rehab, Neurodevelopmental and Sensory Integration therapy, Assistive Technology, Splinting, Hand function, functional training, Cognitive-perceptual Assessment and management. He also worked with Stroke Rehabilitation & Children with Developmental & Multiple Disabilities.
He has worked for over 4 years as a Junior Lecturer & Lecturer in S. L. Roy Public Health & Research Institute where he was teaching DHLS students under D.Ed. special Education (HI/MR). He worked in National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH)/ Postgraduate Medical college, Kottayam, Kerala, Under Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) Ministry of Ayush, Government of India and he was member of expert committee of NHRIMH Research project.
Mr. Gunjan joined NISH in November 2021 as Assistant Professor.

 

Ms Namita has completed her BOT & MOT degree from Manipal University in 2018. Her area of speciality is Developmental Disabilities (Paediatrics).
She has worked with an NGO (UMMEED Child Development Centre) for 2 years. In 2021, she worked as Occupational Therapy Consultant in a project (Hold my Hand) organised by CSR (Catholic Relief Service, a USA based organisation) in Vietnam.
She joined NISH in Feb 2022 and is presently working as Assistant Professor/ Clinical Coordinator.
She is trained in Bayley- 4. She has finished 1st module out of 4 in the Sensory Integration course organised by University of Southern California. She has presented and published a paper in Indian Journal of Occupational Therapy.

Rejitha is a mental health social worker, actively involved in the upliftment of the differently abled to enable them to enter into mainstream life. She has been working with NISH since 2008. Her professional interests include Community Based Rehabilitation(CBR) and working with families of children having hearing impairment, autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation,learning disability and multiple disabilities.

Saranya started her journey with NISH in 2013 as a social worker. Before joining NISH, she had pursued short term internships with different projects of the Central Government and Sakhi Women’s Resource Centre. She completed her post-graduation in Social Work at Loyola College of Social Sciences.  In the present role, as a social worker, she provides assistance to children with speech and language impairment and their parents. She manages to have an eclectic sense of working with individuals in different settings. She has experience in training, presentation, and documentation. She loves to work in a multicultural learning environment where she can meet and interact with people from diverse background and experiences.

Jismon started his professional career as a social worker at NISH in 2015. He holds a master degree in social work from Tirpude College of Social Work Nagpur. His specialisation is medical and psychiatry. He organizes the visits to NISH, making it a meaningful experience for the visitors.  His interest is to work with the highest of the professional standards and partner in innovative efforts to uplift the life quality of the underprivileged. Jismon has coordinated a disability census in Kulathoor in a systematic and effective manner.

Joby has been working with NISH since 2016. Before joining NISH, he was working with various projects of the Government of Kerala. He also worked as a school counselor in Kerala Government Model Tribal Residential School, Njaraneeli and Sree Chithra Poor Home, Trivandrum. He is very much interested to work with differently abled children and their parents.

Anupa started her career in the field of social work in 2015. In 2016, she joined NISH as a social worker. Before joining NISH, she was in associated with the Central Government Project, National Family Health Survey-4 as Team Supervisor. She was involved in a mini research study in Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences(PIMS) and in community-based programs in National Health Mission

Parvathy completed MSW from Kerala University, Kariavattom Campus in 2015. She joined NISH in 2016 and is working as a social worker.  She has served as Female investigator in the National Family Health Survey. In National Health Mission, she was involved in evaluation study of programs implemented in various community based hospital settings and agency studies in various settings including correctional, rehabilitation, curative and preventive settings. She is involved in the outreach programs of NISH and coordinates various programs.

Dr. Anne has been the head psychologist at NISH since its inception in 1997. She had joined with an MPhil degree in Psychology and received her doctoral degree in 2010. She has the Play Therapy Level 1 Certification recognized by the National Association for Play Therapy India. Her area of interest is Sports Psychology, Disability Sports  and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. She was a member of the Sport Psychology Kerala team of the 35^th National Games 2015 assigned for athletics, canoeing-kayaking, cycling and tennis teams. She has passed the Diploma in Community Mental Health for Psychologists (2021) and Certificate Course in Basics of Addiction Management (2022) offered by the NIMHANS Digital Academy and the Diploma in Sports Psychology (2023) offered by the LNIPE (ODL), Gwalior. She has initiated several collaborative projects at both national and international levels, including projects with the University of Michigan, School of Information (UMSI) to create the online platform Access Hub for persons with disability in India. She has also been the principal investigator for funded projects by SID, CDC, and other government organizations.

Ms. Jumin Mary Joseph has done her MPhil in Clinical Psychology from SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Chennai and MPhil in Psychology (Learning Disabilities) from University of Kerala. She had been working in hospital and clinical settings for about 3 years before joining NISH in 2013. She has completed the Teachers Training Program in Learning Disabilities conducted by Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA), Chennai and the Foundation Course on Education of Children with Learning Disabilities recognized by RCI. She has completed the Play Therapy Level 1 certification recognized by the National Association for Play therapy India. Her areas of interest include assessment and management of children and adults with disabilities and mental health concerns.

Ms Anju V J, currently works as Rehabilitation Psychologist/Lecturer at the Department of Psychology in NISH. She has done her  MPhil in Rehabilitation Psychology from National Institute for the Empowerment of Person with Intellectual Disability (NIEPID), Secunderabad and MPhil in Psychology (Learning Disabilities) from University of Kerala. She has completed the Play Therapy Level 1 certification recognized by the National Association for Play therapy India. Before joining NISH, she worked as a School Counsellor for 2 years under the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala.  She joined NISH in January 2012. Her clinical interests include assessment and management of Neurodevelopmental Disorders which includes Intellectual disabilities (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other behavioral issues

Ms. Jeena Mathew is an RCI Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has completed her MPhil in Clinical Psychology from SRM Medical College and Research Centre, Chennai. She received her degree from Women's Christian College in Chennai and did her postgraduate studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. Additionally, she completed a postgraduate certificate programme in psychological counseling at the Christian Counseling Centre in Vellore. Prior to her employment at NISH, she held a reputable position as a psychologist and lecturer in an educational institution. Her areas of interest include conducting assessments and therapeutic interventions for adults and children with mental health difficulties, as well as providing lectures and awareness workshops on mental health well being to a range of groups.

Ms. Nimitha Liz Joseph is an RCI licensed Clinical Psychologist and HCPC UK registered Practitioner Psychologist. She has completed her MPhil in Clinical Psychology from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai and has completed her MSc in Counseling and Guidance from Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College, affiliated to University of Madras. She was previously working in a multidisciplinary neuropsychiatric clinic that is based in Chennai. She has obtained the Play Therapy Level 1 certification as recognized by the National Association for Play therapy India. 

Dr. C.K. Dhanapandian is a Rehabilitation Psychologist with a background in psychology and disability rehabilitation. He received a Doctorate from Bharathiar University and an M.Phil. from NIEPID. He is an associate editor for the Journal of Rehabilitation Sciences and Disability Studies  (JRSDS) published by NISH. In 2021, he received the ‘’Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award’ from the Redpond Educational and Psychological Research Centre in Madurai. He has coordinated and facilitated a number of training programmes, including RCI-accredited CRE programmes. His research interests include behaviour modification, cognitive training, and the creation of training modules for people with special needs and their family.
