Dr. Vinith Dani Jose J P (M.O.T., M.Sc., D.G C., C/SI, Ph.D.–OT) Associate Professor & Head,  Department of Occupational Therapy & Vice Principal

Dr. Vinith obtained his Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT – Mental Health) from Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He also holds an M.Sc. in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Tamil Nadu University and a Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy from MVG University, Jaipur.

He has completed professional certifications in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California (USC) and Geriatric Care from the Geriatric Care Society, UK.

With nearly 23 years of professional experience, Dr. Vinith has worked across diverse domains of Occupational Therapy in academic, clinical, and administrative roles. He served as Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy, under Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He also worked as Head of the Department at Dr. Jeyasekharan Multispeciality Hospital, Nagercoil.

Internationally, he served in the Ministry of Health, Kuwait, as a Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Instructor, and Clinical Mental Health Coordinator. Additionally, he was a Course Instructor for Occupational Therapy Psychosocial (Mental Health) course for BOT  students at Kuwait University.

Dr. Vinith joined NISH in January 2021 as an Assistant Professor and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor and appointed as Vice Principal and Head of the Department in April 2022, followed by his elevation to Professor.

Dr. Vinith has authored two books and has made significant scholarly contributions to the field of Occupational Therapy. He has several research publications in reputed national and international journals in the field of Occupational Therapy. His research interests include Occupational Therapy in Mental Health and enhancing occupational participation and evidence-based practice in psychosocial functioning across children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations.

Mrs. Lynda Mary George (BOT., PG.CP), Consultant Occupational Therapist

Mrs. Lynda George joined NISH as a consultant occupational therapist in 2017. She has over 40 years of experience in both adult and paediatric rehabilitation.
She completed her BOT from Christian Medical College, Vellore and has worked in several hospitals and NGOs. She was the principal of Meenakshi college of Occupational Therapy at Chennai and worked as a Professor at KMCH college of Occupational Therapy in Coimbatore for 11 years.
She has a PG diploma in cerebral palsy and has done an intermediary course in sensory integration.
Mrs. Lynda was one of the strong team member instrumental in setting up the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy course at NISH in 2020.

Mr Joseph Bose H. H. (BSc., BOT , MOT-Paradiatrics , C/SI, C/ISWP, OPT–I & II)Associate Professor

Mr. Joseph Bose H. H. has over 28 years of professional experience as an Occupational Therapist, with specialization in General Paediatrics, Dysphagia Management, Assistive Technology, Sensory Integration, Seating and Splinting. He also possesses more than 15 years of teaching experience in Occupational Therapy education.

He served with the Ministry of Health, Kuwait, for 22 years, where he held several key positions and completed his tenure as Superintendent of Occupational Therapy. During his service, he was an integral member of the recruitment and accreditation teams of the Ministry of Health, Kuwait. In recognition of his professional excellence and contributions, he was honored with the Exemplary Award by the Ministry of Health, Kuwait.

Mr. Joseph completed his Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) from Christian Medical College, Vellore, and his Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT – Paediatrics) from MVG University, Jaipur. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from SRM University.

He holds multiple professional certifications, including Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California, USA, Orfit Splinting (Orfitologist), ISWP Certified Wheelchair Service Provider (WSP), and OPT Levels I & II, among others.

He joined NISH in February 2022 as an Assistant Professor and was later elevated to Associate Professor in May 2025.

In addition to his academic role, Mr. Joseph has served as an Honorary Consultant Occupational Therapist, Mentor, and Member of the Innovation Team at Embright InfoTech, Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, under the Government of Kerala Start-up Mission. He contributed to the development of the patented Assistive Technology device “AUTICARE” for the management of Autism and other developmental disabilities.

Mr. Joseph Bose has presented papers at several international conferences and has published research articles in reputed journals in the field of Occupational Therapy.

Ms Muthulakshmi (BOT., MOT- Neurosciences), Associate Professor (I/C)

Mrs. Muthulakshmi completed her graduation from Dr. MGR Medical University in 2003. She joined Seth GS Medical college & KEM Hospital, Mumbai to pursue her Postgraduation, MOT(Neurosciences) in 2004 & successfully completed as a topper in 2007.Then she started her career as Principal in Santosh college of Occupational Therapy, Chennai. She has a diverse experience in academic, clinical, administrative & research areas with an overall experience of 23 years in the field of Occupational Therapy. She had been a resource person, keynote speaker, chairperson & a panelist in various National & International conferences. She joined  NISH in 2023 & currently serves as an Assistant Professor with an additional charge of Associate Professor. She holds certification in Brain Gym & Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT).

Ms. Muthulakshmi  is a life  member of the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA) and the Academic Council of Occupational Therapy (ACOT).She is an active member of Indian Federation of Neurorehabilitation (IFNR).

       Ms. Sonia. R, (BOT, MOT -Mental Health)  Assistant Professor

 

Sonia

Ms. Sonia completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) from MGR Medical University and her Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from SRM Institute of Science and Technology  She also holds an international certification in Sensory Integration( Module 1) from the University of Southern California.

With over 15 years of clinical experience in Pediatrics and Mental health, Ms. Sonia has worked in reputed institutions and developed expertise in Pediatric Rehabilitation, Sensory Integration, Mental health Occupational therapy, and Multidisciplinary Collaboration.

She served as Assistant Professor at Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy (2022–2023). She joined NISH as Lecturer in April 2023, and became  Assistant Professor in February 2024 .

Ms. Sonia has Research  publications, including two indexed in Scopus and one in the south Eastern European journal of public health.

Her professional interests include Child psychiatry, Sensory Integration, Mental Health Rehabilitation, and Research in Psychosocial Interventions.

        Raisa S Kumar,  (BOT., MOT-Paediatrics), Assistant Professor

Ms.Raisa has completed her Bachelor Of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and Masters in Occupational Therapy from Dr.MGR Medical University,Chennai.

With over 17years of experience In the field of Paediatric Ms.Raisa has  worked in various special schools, Rehabilitation centres and also in hospitals. She also had her own clinic “Rainbow Paediatric Occupational Therapy Centre” at Korattur,Chennai  from 2012 till 2020. 

She has been expertised in handling children with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral palsy, learning disability and other paediatric disorders. She also had been a resource person in delivering awareness talks to the parents with special needs . 

Currently she has joined as lecturer at NISH during the year 2023 and has become the Assistant Professor during the year 2025. Her area of skills and interest is in treating children Autism , dyslexia and ADHD and expertised in giving sensory integration therapy and also has a keen interest in working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

        Mahesh Alias Vibhav M Sanzgiri (BOT., MOT-Oncology), Assistant Professor

Mr. Mahesh is currently working as Assistant Professor in College of Occupational Therapy.

He completed his BOT from Goa Medical College, Goa and his MOT from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai with the specialization in Oncology. He holds certifications like PAMOT by Academic council of Occupational Therapy and QUEST by World Federation of Occupational Therapy. 

He has a total of 3 years of teaching experience. Mr. Mahesh has several publications in National journals. His areas of interest include cancer rehabilitation, lymphedema management, neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation.

        Aneesh A (BOT., MOT-Orthopeadics), Lecturer

Mr. Aneesh is currently working as a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Kerala.

He is a dedicated Occupational Therapist with over three years of combined clinical and academic experience. He completed a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy(2020) in 2022 from Santosh Medical College.

He holds certifications like ADOS-2 training (Online Course) ASDirections Online Reliability Workshops,  Bayley Scales of Infant & Toddlers Development - Fourth Edition", Splinting in Neurorehabilitation by Academy Council of Occupational Therapy of AIOTA in collaboration with GIPMER, New Delhi.

Mr. Aneesh has several publications in National journals. His areas of interest include Orthopedic rehabilitation, Neurological rehabilitation, Pain management and Splinting

        Bhagya Lekshmi (BOT), Lecturer

Ms. Bhagya Lekshmi has over 13 years of professional experience as an Occupational Therapist, with a career spanning both Indian and international healthcare settings. She joined the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) in 2024.

Before joining NISH, she served as a Senior Occupational Therapist at Cambridge University Hospitals (Addenbrooke’s Hospital), under the National Health Services(NHS),United Kingdom, where she worked as part of the Occupational Therapy Medical Team, contributing to comprehensive patient-centered care. She also gained experience in Forensic Psychiatric rehabilitation at St Andrew’s Healthcare, where she underwent formal training in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) -Safety Interventions, improving competencies in safety-focused and crisis management practices. Ms. Bhagya Lekshmi accumulated over four years of experience as an Occupational Therapist with the Kuwait Oil Company at Ahmadi Hospital, Kuwait.

In India, her professional experience includes working as an Occupational Therapist at Baby Memorial Hospital and the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS), Calicut. At IMHANS, she rendered her services to the District Psychiatric Rehabilitation Project (DPRP) supported by the Social Justice Department of Kerala, and also contributed to Child Development Services (CDS). 

Ms. Bhagya Lekshmi is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), UK and is a member of the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA) and the Academic Council of Occupational Therapy (ACOT).

        Siva Sanjeev K (BOT., MOT-Mental Health), Lecturer

Mr. Siva Sanjeev.K joined the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) as a Lecturer in March 2025. He completed his Bachelor’s degree (BOT) at Annamalai University and holds a Master’s degree (MOT) in Mental Health from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. 

With over two years of clinical experience, he has worked extensively in the fields of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Pediatrics, focusing on evidence-based interventions to improve functional independence and mental well-being across diverse patient populations. He has a publication in National Journal.

        Ms. Monisha S S, BOT, MOT, (Neurosciences), Lecturer

Ms. Monisha joined as Clinical Supervisor in NISH Occupational Therapy Outpatient department in May 2025 and became Lecturer in August 2025. She completed her Bachelors of Occupational Therapy in SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. She completed her Masters of Occupational Therapy in Neurosciences as gold medallist from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.

She has 3 years clinical experience in Paediatric and Neurological rehabilitation. She has presented a paper in an International conference in 2019. During her tenure as Clinical Supervisor, she completed a certification course on ‘Essentials of Occupational Therapy in Leprosy’ from ‘Schieffelin Institute of Health Research & Leprosy Centre’, Karigiri, Vellore, Tamil Nadu.   Her areas of interest are Cognitive Rehabilitation, Stroke Rehabilitation and Sensory Integration.

 

        Ms. Aathma S A, BOT, MOT (Neuro Rehabilitation), OT Clinical Supervisor

 

Ms. Aathma S A completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from Manipal University. She served as an Occupational Therapist at CADRRE - The Autism School for 1 year and 5 months (2022-2023). She joined NISH as a Clinical Supervisor in October 2025.Her areas of interest are Pediatric populations and Neuro rehabilitation.
