NISH is conducting ‘first of its kind' series of talks for the Public on success stories of people who have overcome disabilities and have become role models for others in society. These series will also have talks by pioneers and innovators who have gone beyond their call of duty to serve those with disabilities. The talks will be conducted in the Marigold Auditorium on NISH campus and will be open to the public.

The series of talks will be named “NISH Innovations Model – Inspiring Stories” and will be conducted periodically.

The seventh speech of NIM-IS was conducted on August 17th, 2018.

Smt. Smrithy Rajesh shared her experience as a parent of a special child with Autism. She started working as a co-therapist for her son and is a qualified Special Educator certified by the Karnataka Parents’ Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens (KPAMRC). She works as a Special Educator at Bubbles Centre for Autism, Bangalore. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is stigmatized and lesser known in India. Smrithy’s keen interest in training her son to use AAC and spreading awareness using social media is inspiring. When she saw remarkable progress in her child with the techniques she used, she created a YouTube channel and blog to share her ideas and thoughts with other parents.
