In congruence with the objective of effective implementation of RPwD Act, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of National Institute of Speech and Hearing(NISH), initiated accessibility audit and conducted it with the support of CATI and NI department to address accessibility issues, which is one of the major thrust areas of the Act. The Department of Empowerment of PwD under Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India accepted the proposals of NISH and sanctioned Rs 1.49 crore in September 2019 for upgrading all three buildings viz. Thejus, Dhyan and Amruth. This was to ensure that the campus is accessible to persons with different disabilities. Accessible building and infrastructure include the provision of ramps, lifts, tactile signages, pathways, accessible toilets etc. which will enable easy and enhanced mobility to all PwD visiting NISH.
BAAC program will be provided for children who needs an additional support for communication other than speech through CCLAS approach.
Children with developmental age above five years will be trained for conventional literacy skills and basic computer knowledge with music therapy and technology in order to provide assistance in their academic performance, vocational skills and speech intelligibility.
A monthly once home intervention program for parental training will be provided for children who are newly enrolled in the clinic before admitting in regular intervention sessions.
