The Department of ASLP has a dedicated special clinic for stuttering and other fluency disorders. In stuttering, the forward flow of speech is interrupted by a motorically disrupted sound, syllable, or word, or by the speaker's reactions.
An individual with stuttering requires fluency shaping as well as counselling for building motivation and confidence.
The unit provides:
1. Counselling and educating individuals with stuttering and their caretakers on the nature, type, aetiology & characteristics of stuttering, treatment options and support groups.
2. Individualized and group interventions
3. Awareness programs on stuttering for parents and teachers are conducted every 6 months.
