National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) offers Auditory Verbal Therapy sessions for cochlear implant recipients. The goal of this therapy approach is to equip young deaf and hard of hearing children develop age-appropriate spoken language and effective communication skills through listening modality.
Individualized therapy sessions are given weekly twice for each child and active parent participation is ensured in order to facilitate carryover of skills into other environments.
Children below three years and have undergone cochlear implantation surgery are admitted to this program after a baseline assessment.
